The book Mecénáskönyv – A mecenatúra magyarországi története (The History of Patronage in Hungary), published by Art is Business, is now available. It presents the last 125 years of art patronage in Hungary, from 1900 to the present day.
The aim of the 150-page volume is to highlight the historical and contemporary patrons, individuals, and businesses who believed—and still believe—that supporting culture is our shared responsibility. Through portraits, analyses, and professional commentary, the book illustrates how patronage has shaped Hungarian cultural life in the 20th and 21st centuries.
The publication's chapter on patrons from 1990 to 2025 includes a portrait of Péter Horn, recognizing his approach and commitment to treating the support of the arts and cultural values not only as a business issue but also as a social one.
According to the book's editor, Katalin L. Horváth, one of the most important questions raised by the publication is:
"What factors have determined the survival of an artist's oeuvre, and who and what helps patrons today to recognize true talent?"
The Patronage Book will be published in December 2025 and is an important reflection of the idea that supporting the arts is not a thing of the past, but a living, future-shaping practice.
